Careers

Put your enforcement experience to work, on your schedule.

We're looking for experienced DOT safety professionals for remote, hourly contract work. You bring the judgment. We bring the data, the software and the support team.

Open role

DOT safety consultant, hourly contract

Our software and support team handle the routine file work for the fleets we serve. What we need from you is the expert review: someone who has seen how investigations really go and can tell a carrier what an investigator will actually focus on.

What you'd do

  • Review our audit findings and fix lists before they go to a client.
  • Answer the hard regulation questions our team escalates.
  • Review DataQs requests before they're filed.
  • Join the occasional client call, and help a carrier prepare when an investigation is coming.

The basics

  • Hourly, independent contract. You set your rate.
  • Remote. Work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • About 10 to 20 hours a month to start, with room to grow as we add fleets.
  • Flexible. Most work can be done whenever it suits you.

Who we're looking for

  • Former FMCSA safety investigators or auditors.
  • Former state MCSAP officers, troopers or auditors.
  • Certified Directors of Safety and experienced fleet safety directors.
  • Deep knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 382, 385, 391, 395 and 396.

Good to know

Questions people usually ask.

I recently left FMCSA. Can I still do this work?

Federal post-employment rules can limit work on specific matters you handled while in government. We'll talk through any restrictions that apply to you up front and keep you off anything you shouldn't touch.

Is this a full-time job?

No. It's hourly contract work that fits around retirement, another job, or your own consulting practice.

Do I need my own insurance?

We'll discuss coverage with you directly. It shouldn't stop you from reaching out.

What does the first step look like?

A 15-minute call to hear about your background and what you're looking for. If it's a fit, we'll usually start with a small paid project, such as reviewing one sample driver file and a week of log exceptions.
